About Carl

I'm Carl Adams, a Doulagivers-trained end-of-life doula and a Reiki Master. I'm a veteran and a retired U.S. Navy Senior Chief, and I live and serve in the New Plymouth, Idaho area.

An end-of-life doula is a non-medical companion for the dying person and their family. My role is to be present, to listen, and to help families feel less alone in the final chapter of a life. Reiki is a gentle, non-medical comfort practice I can offer if a family wants it.

How I can help

Every family and every death is different. Support is shaped around what the person and their family want.

Companionship and presence

Being there, listening, and keeping company, so no one faces the end alone.

Support for the family

Emotional and practical support for the dying person and loved ones, and help understanding what to expect.

Wishes and legacy

Help putting wishes into words, and legacy and life-review projects that honor a life.

Vigil planning and sitting

Planning the space and the final days, and sitting vigil with the family.

Respite for caregivers

Time for caregivers to rest, step away, or simply breathe.

Grief support

Continued support for the family in grief afterward.

A doula does not provide medical care. I work alongside hospice and the medical team, never in place of them. Medical questions belong with your hospice nurse or doctor.

Serving veterans

Senior Chief, USN (Ret.)One veteran keeping watch with another.

I serve veterans of every branch of service, and their families, in the Payette River Valley of Idaho. Whether someone served a few years or a full career, in wartime or in peace, their service deserves to be honored at the end of life.

As a veteran and retired Navy Senior Chief myself, I'm here to listen, to keep company, and to help veterans and their families face the end of life with dignity and respect.
